The Seven Chakras

The Seven Chakras

The chakras are another component of the human energy field. The Sanskrit for “chakra” means wheel, as each chakra is a swirling energy transformer that transmutes and supplies the body with higher universal energy. In esoteric literature, there are twelve major chakras, and five of them (the earth, solar, lunar, galactic, and universal chakras) are outside of the body. These five chakras focus more on our spiritual connection to the universe.

Within the human body, there are seven major chakras. Minor chakras are found in joints such as knees, elbows, hands, feet, etc. All major chakras except for the first and seventh extend to the back of our bodies. Just like the aura layers, each chakra has its own frequency range that dictates either health, or dis-ease for its related organs (as each organ also has its healthy range of frequency). In addition, the frequency also increases successively as we go from the first chakra (root chakra) to the seventh chakra (crown chakra).

The chakras are connected to each other and to the physical body through channels known as Nadis which resemble energetic threads. Each chakra, or its frequency is associated with the organs within the same region of the body that share similar frequency. Disruption in energy flow in any particular chakra thus affects the health of its corresponding organs.

Working in conjunction with the aura and meridians, chakras not only determine our physical and emotional health, but also are responsible for our consciousness, and experiences with the world around us aside from our lifestyles and environmental factors.

When the system is balanced, all chakras function within their healthy range of frequencies and enable us to lead healthy lifestyles with a positive outlook. Beliefs, thoughts and emotions filled with love and gratitude (they resonate on high frequency) can also enlarge and energize our chakras. Any type of imbalance in the body can either be the result of energy blockages in the chakras, or contribute to stagnant energy flow in the chakras which further throws off the entire equilibrium.

From the clairvoyant perspective, distortion of energy in chakras are seen as dark or muddy spots. Trained individuals can also scan the chakras with their hands or with a pendulum. Healthy chakras are vibrant and expansive, and can be felt further from the body whereas the energy of weak chakras usually hovers only a few inches above the body.

First Chakra – Root Chakra

The root chakra has the lowest frequency out of the seven major chakras, and it is associated with the etheric body. It is located at the base of the spine. The color of the root chakra is red, its element is earth, and its musical note is C. It affects reproductive, elimination and lymphatic systems as well as hips, knees, ankles and feet. This chakra is linked to our survival and our safety needs such as food and shelter. It also rules our self-image, stability and courage. We derive our strength and earth connection from the root chakra. Weakness in the root chakra can result in fatigue, feelings of insecurity and fear of survival, and/or problems with the lower body such as weakness in hips and knees. The first chakra stores our tribal consciousness that we are born into, meaning the entire set of the belief system that includes values, morals and religious ideals from our tribe is programmed within our first chakra and we inherit it at birth.

Second Chakra- Sacral Chakra

The sacral chakra is located below the navel, it is also associated with the etheric body. Its color is orange, its element is water, and its note is D. It is responsible for the reproductive system, the bladder and kidneys. The sacral chakra has to do with physical and material pleasure (sexuality and finances), creativity, and perception of self. This charka is a problematic area for many living in today’s society as we are constantly bathing in unconscious belief systems that cause shame, guilt and low self esteem. Emotionally and mentally, imbalance in this chakra results in low confidence (“I’m not good enough”), fear/boundary issues with intimacy, avoidance/excessive search of pleasure, lack of emotional expression and creativity. Physically, problems can arise in the organs that are guided by this chakra.

Third Chakra – Solar Plexus

The solar plexus is located in the stomach region near the diaphragm. It is associated with the astral/emotional body. Its color is yellow, its element is fire, and its note is E. It’s in charge of the liver, stomach, digestive system and adrenals. This chakra is our personal power center. This is where we draw our self-assertion and confidence, but it can also harbor anger, fear, judgment, and limiting beliefs. As we go through life, we take on others’ beliefs, and store them in this chakra. Not so surprisingly, many of the beliefs we take on are from our primary caretakers on an unconscious level. Imbalance in solar plexus is seen in low confidence, feeling of powerlessness, fear of judgment, lack of inner peace, indecisiveness, and inability to deal with others’ opinions without anger and defensive reaction. Physically, there can be issues in the organs that are related to the solar plexus such as indigestion.

Fourth Chakra – Heart Chakra

The heart chakra is located in the center of the chest. It is also associated with the astral/emotional body. Its color is green, its element is air, and its note is F. It directs the functioning in the heart, thymus, lungs, and circulatory system. The heart chakra has to do with love in both receiving and giving. It opens us to surrender, connection, devotion, and compassion. The heart chakra is also the source of spiritual guidance as it connects the lower and upper body. Weakness in the heart chakra is often termed as “cold heartedness,” or “a closed heart.” It can be the result of lack of love, trust or suppressed anger from childhood. Its symptoms are constant rage, distance, inability to connect to others and form harmonious relationships, self-centeredness, lack of compassion, inability to trust etc. Heart problems, high blood pressure and so on can all be the result of distortion of energy in the fourth chakra. The heart chakra also bridges the upper and lower chakras and serves as a bridge for us to tap into our higher selves.

Fifth Chakra – Throat Chakra

The throat chakra is located in the throat area. It is associated with the mental body. Its color is blue, its element is ether, and its note is G. It is related to the mouth, neck, thyroid and parathyroid glands, and respiratory system. The throat chakra is our “voice.” It not only directs our communication in verbal, written, and aesthetic forms, but also allows us to boldly express and declare our truths to the world. It connects the intellect and emotion. Imbalance in the throat chakra leads to difficulty to communicate needs and emotions, fear of any form of self-expression, and inability to exert willpower or speak the truth. Imbalance in this chakra can lead to the development of thyroid issues, and problems in all the related areas.

Sixth Chakra – Third Eye

The third eye is located between the brows. It is also associated with the mental body. Its color is purple, its element is ether, and its note is A. It looks after the brain, pituitary gland, pineal gland, eyes, nose, sinuses, and central nervous system. This chakra is all about “seeing” both the world outside of ourselves (perception), as well as the world inside (self-awareness). It gives us the ability to envision, and follow our intuition. A strong third eye often means increased psychic abilities and connection to higher consciousness. It also allows us to create visions and follow our dreams. The third eye is often “opened” through meditation and spiritual practice.

Please keep in mind that no matter how open our third eye is, without doing the healing work by releasing and replacing our disempowering beliefs located in the lower chakras, those energy patterns can block us from receiving higher guidance because the beliefs we hold onto as well as the lack of confidence in the lower chakras will override any intuitive ideas we receive, making them impossible to manifest. Weakness in this chakra is seen in confusion, rigidity, and lack of insight. Frequent headaches and neurological issues can also be improper functioning of the sixth chakra.

Seventh Chakra – Crown Chakra

The seven chakra has the highest frequency within the chakra system in the body. It is located at the top of the head, and is part of the spiritual/casual body. Its color is either white or indigo, its element is ether, and its note is B. It’s associated with the pineal gland, upper brain and nervous system. This chakra connects us to the source. It brings us the experience of awakening, ascension and enlightenment. It allows us to understand our oneness with divinity, and access higher consciousness. An underdeveloped crown chakra contributes to reduced spiritual awareness and an overall feeling of disconnect.
